Adrian G., a first responder from Texas, did not pick up his M16® knife for one specific moment. It came into his life early, during his time working in the oilfields in his twenties. Like most tools on a jobsite, it had a purpose. It was there to get work done, handle whatever came up, and move on to the next task.

That did not change when his life did. As Adrian moved into EMS and began working as a 911 dispatched paramedic, the knife came with him. Different environment, different pace, higher stakes, but the same expectation. It needed to work when called on. It needed to be there without question. Over time, it became less about the job and more about the habit of carrying something dependable.

Years later, that habit has not gone anywhere. Adrian still carries an M16® knife in his rotation today. It has been through different roles, different phases of life, and a wide range of experiences, but it has stayed consistent through all of it. Not because it is the newest or most expensive option, but because it has already proven itself.

“It’s not my most expensive knife,” he wrote. “But it’s my most treasured.” That difference matters. For Adrian, the value of the knife is not in what it costs or how it looks. It is in where it has been and the role it has played along the way.
