As a Green Beret, Darrin Sirois of Fayetteville, North Carolina is the kind of guy that expects his knives and tools to take hard abuse…and he designed the RASP™ tactical knife to accept the challenge head on. R.A.S.P…stands for “Rescue and Special Purpose” and it’ll do just that and so much more. The blade is at once a workhorse and a head turner—there’s simply nothing else quite like it. It’s a modified Wharncliffe, dubbed, “Warn Clip,” in Darrin’s terms, and features a subtle recurve. Though barely detectable just by looking at it, it effectively elongates the cutting surface, and gives it a distinctly unique style.
Deployed from its stainless steel handles with an unobtrusive flipper or a right-handed thumb stud, the blade is anchored in place by a burly frame lock. Nearly every last detail of the RASP™ features a stonewash finish, so it’s as sleek as it is powerful and resists rust and wear even in tough conditions.
Where this knife is headed, ‘oversized’ seems just right.
About the Forged By War® program
In 2013, Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical, designer of elite, military, tactical tomahawks, approached CRKT® with the news that he had been working with a few combat veterans that had returned from war with varying degrees of post-traumatic stress (PTS).
To help work through their challenges, they have been designing and forging steel into custom tools. Drawing from their experience earned in combat situations, they have been creating tools they wished they had available to them in the battlefield.
CRKT® cares deeply about our returning veterans and we saw a way to give back to the community that created them. In 2016, we launched the Forged By War® program.
These are mission ready tools, designed by veterans, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the veterans' charity of choice.

Coming from a Special Ops background, Darrin doesn’t design knives that just work in theory. They need work in action too. And he knows the missing element to any great blade: human input. That’s why you’ll often find him hounding his Special Operations teammates and asking them what they like and don’t like about their knives. Now as part of the Forged by War™ program he’s fine-tuning until his knife-making mission is complete. Along the way, he’s earning nods from awards shows and fellow soldiers all around the world.
