CURFEW™
Designed by Russ Kommer in Fargo, North Dakota
Doesn’t abide by curfews.
Great design often comes from unexpected moments. So when knifemaker Russ Kommer’s eight-year-old granddaughter showed him one of her rough sketches, the two began plugging away in Russ’ workshop to refine it into the Curfew™. A sleek everyday carry, this folding knife deploys the blade smoothly and quickly thanks to Ken Onion’s award-winning Assisted Opening. While its original inspiration comes from someone young enough to have a curfew, this knife definitely isn’t bound by one.

Doesn’t abide by curfews. Great design often comes from unexpected moments. So when knifemaker Russ Kommer’s eight-year-old granddaughter showed him one of her rough sketches, the two began plugging away in Russ’ workshop to refine it into the Curfew™. A sleek everyday carry, this folding knife flaunts a 3.10” blade that deploys smoothly and quickly thanks to Ken Onion’s award-winning Assisted Opening. While its original inspiration comes from someone young enough to have a curfew, this knife definitely isn’t bound by one.
A true outdoorsman, knife designer Russ Kommer’s creations are typically made with rough and tough situations in mind. And while the Curfew™ is a compact, everyday carry, its sheer versatility means it’s power in your pocket. Inspired by something his eight-year-old granddaughter drew, Russ got to work to refine the “blueprint” until landing on the Curfew™. Featuring a durable high carbon stainless steel 3.10” blade, its sharp precision point aids for a cleaner cut for tackling everyday chores around the home or office.
Stylistically, this folding knife is easy on the eyes. Offering a ergonomic friendly grip, the handle is decked in resin infused fiber with black anodized aluminum bolster. And when you’re ready to put it to work, Ken Onion’s Assisted Opening feature helps deploy the blade in the blink of an eye, with the IKBS™ ball bearing pivot system creating a super smooth rotation.
If you’re a rule breaker (or just want to feel like one) grab a hold of the Curfew™.
How Assisted Opening Works
It's held securely closed in your pocket, but initiate the deployment, and part way through the rotation the blade opens at impressive speed for simple, powerful, one-handed opening.

To say Russ is an outdoorsman is a bit of an understatement. A professional fishing and hunting guide, he started making knives when one of his clients brought him a custom knife and dressed an entire moose—without sharpening it. Since then he’s made it his duty to build the kind of tools only he would use. It just so happens his Bear Claw’s™, and Hoist’N Lok®, are the kinds other hunters use as well.
