We’re pretty sure it doesn’t have superpowers. Designer Dew Hara laughs in the face of the status quo. We take his new Hirin™ limited edition folding knife as all the proof we need. This exclusive creation is built with premium materials in Maniago, Italy and limited to 500. And if by chance, the knife itself doesn’t have superpowers, the effect it has when you pull it out of your pocket surely will.

For many years, Dew Hara of Seki, Japan was a web developer and spent much of his childhood enthralled with Japanese anime. But his family’s knife-designing roots run deep and—following the footsteps of his world-famous father Koji Hara—Dew entered the world of knife design. Channeling his varied background, Dew dreamt up the Hirin™, a daring design that features perfectly balanced cutouts in the spear point blade and handle. This limited-edition design uses both Böhler M390 blade steel and two-tone 6AL4V titanium for the handle. A flipper starts the smooth action of the IKBS™ ball bearing pivot system around the detailed pivot point and a liner lock keeps it in place.

The Hirin™ hits the mark between Japanese perfection and otherworldly style.

Dew Hara

Seki, Japan

Dew Hara is a product of his environment… literally. Makers in his hometown of Seki, Japan, are famous for designing and producing some of the best fine kitchen cutlery in the world. He also carries the world-famous Hara name; his father, Koji Hara, is one of the most respected designers alive. Dew’s work stands solidly on its own, though—his ability to infuse elements from the natural world is unparalleled, and he’s only just scratched the surface of what’s sure to be a long and productive career.
