Channeling his heritage, veteran Michael Rodriguez designed the Xolotl™ in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Drawing inspiration from the deity Xolotl™, Michael crafted the grippy G10 skeleton-like handle to pay homage to the god's legendary purpose: to transport souls to the afterlife. Take a closer look and you’ll see 21 ribs—one for each of his years of service.

The blade has one sharp and one false edge that converge in a strong spear point best for fine slicing. A solid flipper is designed for fast opening and a liner lock holds the blade firmly in place even amid hard use. A detailed sternum-shaped clip carries the Aztecian story and allows for a discreet carry in a pocket or on MOLLE systems.

Channel the lore of an underworld deity with the Xolotl™.

About the Forged By War® Program

In 2013, Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical, designer of elite, military, tactical tomahawks, approached CRKT® with the news that he had been working with a few combat veterans that had returned from war with varying degrees of post-traumatic stress (PTS).

To help work through their challenges, they have been designing and forging steel into custom tools. Drawing from their experience earned in combat situations, they have been creating tools they wished they had available to them in the battlefield.

CRKT® cares deeply about our returning veterans and we saw a way to give back to the community that created them. In 2016, we launched the Forged By War® program.

These are mission ready tools, designed by veterans, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the veterans' charity of choice.

Michael Rodriguez's charity of choice for this knife is the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation.

Michael Rodriguez

Fayetteville, North Carolina

Michael R. Rodriguez was one of only two Americans to ever graduate the Irish Army Ranger Wing Sniper Course which he did at the top of his class and he's one of President George W. Bush's advisors. Truly, if we attempted to list the rest of his accolades, we’d run out of ink. His experience as a combat veteran pivoted when he met Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical during a recovery period. Then, forging knives and tools became a passion project for him—one that is starkly reflected in his products that we are proud to represent in our Forged By War™ program.
