2730 description
Build a Nice Log Cabin Fire. Heck, Build a Nice Log Cabin Home.

This two-handed camp axe with a hickory handle, hot forged blade, and hammerhead will make your life easier when you're off the grid.

Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical in Chattanooga, TN designed The Woods Chogan™ T-Hawk. A specialist in applying modern engineering to centuries old tool and weapon concepts, he is upping the ante once again with a new outdoor line of tomahawks that swing as big as the open wilderness where they're found.

The design for this T-Hawk evolved from the popular and original tactical tomahawk series. But it's built for battle with a few old Doug Firs. The Woods Chogan™ is made from a solid chunk of 1055 carbon steel that is hot forged into a rock-solid head that features a hammer finish. With primary and secondary edge bevels that are flat ground, it cuts through timber like a beaver. A hammerhead is useful for pounding in nails and stakes for the tent you'll put by your roaring fire.

The thick wood handle is made in the USA from Tennessee hickory. It's comfortable in hand and sealed with a lacquer coat that adds durability whenever you're in the backcountry—in other words, all the time.

Grab hold of the Woods Chogan™ T-Hawk and split some wood—like a cord's worth.

NOTE: Leather sheath is available as an after-market add-on. It is not included. But don't worry. You won't want to keep this baby wrapped up.

Also available:

Woods Chogan™ T-Hawk Leather Sheath (D2730)

Woods Kangee™ T-Hawk with a Spike Head (2735)

Woods Kangee™ T-Hawk Leather Sheath (D2735)

Woods T-Hawk Replacement Handle (2730-2)

I must say the fit and finish on this product is top notch I had been debating whether to go cold steel and pay less (but have to work on the fit and finish) or pay a little more for a quality company to do it. I believe I made the right decision. I have only been down into the trees for some minor bushcrafting but was impressed so far.

This is a great tomahawk, AND good hatchet. Traditional tomahawks were designed as offensive weapons, and are typically lighter than hatchets. But this new and innovative design is a solid, high-quality tool. It is more robust and slightly heavier, and seems to be a cross between a hatchet and a tomahawk. My daughters throw tomahawks, and I use a tomahawk to clear trails, cut small limbs, and keep our family safe from bears. Traditional tomahawks are fine for all of these things, but are no good when you need heft and stability. But this tomahawk is more stable. I will use it as a tomahawk, and also for things I used to do with a hatchet, like driving wedges to split logs, hammering stakes, and splitting kindling wood. It's great for things that traditional tomahawks perform poorly.

I haven't had a chance to really put it to the test, but this hawk is solidly built has a great edge. As the other reviewer mentioned, it would be nice if the sheath were included, or at least suggested when ordering. I can't wait to get out in the woods with this guy.

Nice tomahawk. Already put it to work. Swing weight and balance were great, and hawk is sharp. Hammer head is a good size. I, too, would have been happier with a sheath, but that's life. (I had purchased two hawks, one for me and one for my son.)CRKT products are durable, and they don't disappoint.

THIS IS A GREAT HAWK. IT THROWS NICE AND STICKS GREAT. IT IS SUPER SHARP AND CUTS LIMBS CLEAN AND IS GOOD FOR SPLITTING WOOD. THE ONLY THING MISSING WHEN IT ARRIVED WAS A SHEATH. YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE IT SEPERATELY. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW THIS AHEAD OF TIME, AND EVEN NICER TO HAVE INCLUDED A SHEATH FOR THE PRICE. IN ALL I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST PURCHASING THIS TOMAHAWK. I HAVE SEVERAL CRKT KNIVES AND THE TOMAHAWK STANDS UP TO THEIR GREAT QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE. SCOTT.
