Kit Carson, designer of the M16® Series, became famous for his titanium frame M16 customs. True to Kit's custom design in all details, the production M16T models have been taken a step further with the addition of our exclusive patented* AutoLAWKS™ safety, which automatically turns the folders into virtual fixed blades when the blade is opened and locked.
The handles, which form the open-build frame, are CNC machined from titanium. The result is a better strength-to-weight ratio than steel or aluminum, and an almost indestructible frame. The titanium frame is minimally ceramic bead-blast finished to enhance grip. The single 420J2 stainless steel locking liner with friction grooves provides positive locking.
The blade is AUS 8 stainless steel, chosen for edge retention and durability, in non-reflective fine bead blast finish. This steel can handle the most rugged cutting tasks and still be field sharpened.
Of course, the T models feature the signature "Carson Flipper" extension to the blade, which aids opening and acts as an additional blade guard.
The M16®-01T is similar to our Every Day Carry M16 spear point models, but in a titanium build. It is just that much smaller, lighter and slimmer, making it easier to carry.
Faithful replicas. Premium quality. Precise. Smooth. Amazing value for those who want the ultimate M16. Kit Carson still marvels at how well our production titaniums compare to his customs.
I'm as big a fan of this knife as all the other posters here. It's light weight and smooth action make it the equal of many custom knives I've handled. The titanium is both amazingly light and surprisingly strong.
The only thing I'd change is the same think another reviewer mentioned: the AUTO-LAWKS feature is annoying. It is very effective but tiresome to fumble with for quick cuts, especially in wet conditions with tired hands. The automatic aspect is ingenious but in my opinion should be an option

I need to know if this knife's pocket clip is in the same place as the zytel version or if it's really about a quarter inch down. In the picture it's a little below the pivot screw but in a YouTube review it was in the same spot. This determines wether or not I buy this knife.
CRKT RESPONSE: Sorry, the website has an old picture. The Clip is in the same position as the Zytel series.

I've owned this knife for about a month I have to say the flipper/guard action is THEE smoothest of all of my M16-M21s (about 6-7 of each with different blade finishes, designs, serrations and scale materials). Brand new out of the box (where it still is where it will stay) the 1st time I hit the flipper it opened so fast and effortlessly I was amazed, not even a slight wrist flip needed to ope.
Still got a good heft to it and isn't near as light as the carbon fiber scaled M16 I had, or as light as I thought a titanium version would be.
I hate repeating myself but I wish it had the regular LAWKS on it. For a knife this size 90% of the time you use it you do not NEED the auto LAWKS to be engaged (speaking from yrs of exp), for the other 10%, manually engaging the LAWKS is SIMPLE.
