KISS description
There's nothing like the real thing. The Original K.I.S.S.®, with its Tanto-inspired blade and bead-blast finish, is the revolutionary high-tech statement by Knifemakers' Guild member and K.I.S.S. designer "Daddy K.I.S.S." Ed Halligan. It stands for "Keep It Super Simple." It's one honey of a knife, precision fine blanked for superior fit and smooth operation.

Like all folding knives in the K.I.S.S. family, Ed Halligan's unique two-piece construction features an integral frame lock, and a breakthrough design which seals the cutting edge against the handle.

A thumb stud is used to one-hand open the blade, and as the blade is fully rotated open, the frame lock snaps crisply in behind the blade to give a sound lockup. The blade can be closed with one hand, simply by releasing the frame lock.

The Original K.I.S.S.® blade shape is Tanto-inspired—Chisel-Point grind on the front and flat on the backside—so that when the blade is closed onto its handle/frame, the precision fit effectively "seals" the cutting edge to the frame, even though it's exposed. Both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point Serrated edge grinds are available. Both blade and frame are 3CR13 stainless steel in a fine bead-blast finish.

The design of the K.I.S.S. series pocket/money clip permits them to be used in a variety of ways: clipped to the pocket; as a money clip knife; and with split-ring or lanyard, as a key chain knife.

In the wake of the success of the K.I.S.S., a flock of imitators has appeared; none offers the simple elegance of Ed Halligan's original design, and none offers the value of CRKT quality manufacturing. In fact, the more Ed's design is imitated, the better it looks.

I have one of the original, CRKT collaboration K.I.S.S. knives that was offered prior to moving manufacturing to China. It's an excellent EDC for being a basic blade in a pinch. My version is a drop point with a half-serration towards the base of the cutting edge. Pat. Pend. Japan 5610 and K.I.S.S. Ed Halligan Engineered on the rear face of the blade and CRKT with logo embossed on the face. I sharpen it every 6 months or so and it holds its edge very well. The only changes I would make would be to slightly increase the size and shape of the thumb screw, eliminate the serration and hatch the spine at the base of the blade for a more secure thumb grip.

The blade cutting aspect is great, man does it cut really good and very sharp. I found out how good it cuts after the Safety latch collapsed and caused my tip of my thumb to be cut OFF clean. went to hospital to put it back on. How it happened I was cutting a plastic 1/4 sheet had a very hard grip on the handle as I was cutting the plastic sheet the safety latch collapsed causing the blade to go to the closing position where my thumb was. The area where u removed metal to allow the latch to designed release the blade, amount removed was too much. I still have the Knife and use it. But I keep having to realign the safety latch back to locking mode. This is NOT my 1st knife, I also have a not to old samurai sword- COLD STEEL 13 inch knife. Many many folding knifes. I saw this had to have it.

I've owned this knife for a little over a year now. Great knife holds a decent edge. I usually sharpen it before I go camping so I don't worry about it much. The people at CRKT are fabulous. I had some screws fall out and finally got around to calling about it, they were extremely nice and shipping the replacements no questions asked. You cannot get better service and all for a $40 dollar knife. Everyone always complements how much they like it whenever I hand it to someone to use. Don't hesitate to buy one heck buy 2.

I received this for a gift. It's well made. I was surprised to find out it is made in china. So disappointed as one of the reasons I was given this is that my brother knows I like USA made. Oh well, we learn from our mistakes. I looked over the page and no way you could know.
