2125KV description
Today's tactical fixed blade knives still resemble the first Bronze Age daggers of 4000 years ago, especially in their handle design. Michael Martinez, sculptor, inventor, and martial artist, didn't start out to redesign the fixed blade, but he explains, "In my edged weapons training, I kept noticing how many knives didn't feel right, didn't have a grip that gave both control and comfort in the four fundamental tactical grips." Michael's design firm, Group Design, Inc., reached out to a team of medical specialists for the answer. Their Ultima achieves 22 out of 23 ideal contact points with its unique patent-pending handle.

The injection-molded black glass filled nylon scales feature over 70 triangular grip segments, separated by sipes, or "ooze grooves" which channel away water, mud and oil. Horizontal grooves are placed under the fingertips for optimum feel.

Because tactical knives are inevitably used as pry bars, Michael's team created a butt pry tip as an extension of the blade tang, with a rounded tip.

This smaller Ultima, model 2125KV, features a 4.95" full-tang blade of 1.4116 stainless steel with a black titanium nitride coating. It comes with our exclusive patented* Veff Serrations.

Developed by Oregon City, Oregon, knife designer Tom Veff, these serrations are wide and angled at 60 degrees to the edge. The resulting cutting points bite instantly and dig deep upon contact, slicing smoothly and effortlessly. They give dramatically improved cutting ability on rope, webbing, strapping, hoses and leather.

Tactical Sheath. The Ultima's custom black high-strength nylon fabric/glass filled nylon sheath has an injection-molded liner. Dual belt loops are Velcro® adjustable. For maximum versatility, there are ample grommets with a length of 550 paracord included, an adjustable leg strap, plus a slotted sheath back that can mount on MOLLE gear. Removable security handle straps with snaps give access and security. A utility pocket with a Fastex buckle will carry a variety of folding knives, multipurpose tools or sharpeners.

After 4,000 years of scientific progress, the only thing the Ultima shares with its bronze ancestors is its role in the mission.

I have 2 of the older Ultimas with the tanto tip, non-serrated, 5 7 inch blades. I own a lot of knives and consider myself pretty up on knife construction and quality. Both versions I have are very well made, good quality knives. Good blade geometry, excellent grip and the pry-bar tip at the end of the grip is a great touch. The sheaths are well constructed and stay in place very well. The pouch on the sheath is a nice touch, I carry a Leatherman Kick on the smaller blade knife and a Leatherman Surge on the other. Overall, a excellent quality product that I would recommend to anyone looking for a heavy duty, survival type knife.

like the knife except for the words made in Tiawan on the blade. I thought I was buying American made by Americans. Don't think I can trust you guys anymore.

I've owned my Ultima for about a year and its proven to be a good tool but I admit I havn't been able to use it as much as I would like. I can't comment too much on the steel but the handle scales are ingenious as far as preserving grip. The sheath allows you to carry the knife just about any way you'd like. It is a little bulky if your short on space but you can always cut off what you dont need. The only complaint i have is that the liner in the sheath worked its way loose but it was an easy fix with some 3M adheasive. All in all its a good knife but maybe just a hair on the pricy side.

I bought the 7 inch grey version of this knife and I love it. The blade is very thick and durable, but don't expect it to be razor sharp, as it is not meant to be. For a good survival combo pair the Ultima with the CRKT Sting. The handle and the Veff serrations are the best features, and the only bad thing is that the blade started getting surface rust spotting after only one night in the woods.

This is really an awesome knife, in terms of both aesthetics and functionality. The Veff serrations are the best part-they really make clean cuts. The black finish is gorgeous (you can see your reflection in it). It was razor sharp out of the box and has stayed that way since I've had it. The knife is a little smaller than I expected, but it's still a really nice size. The sheath is a little disappointing because of how big it is. It works great if you want the knife strapped to your leg but if you want it in a car glovebox or some other small area it really gets in the way. Nevertheless, the sheath works well when the knife is attached to your leg and the extra pocket for a folder/multi-tool is really handy. Overall its a great knife, comparable to my American Legend KA-BAR.
