Terry Renner, custom knifemaker and owner of TR Blades in Palmetto, Florida, is becoming well-known for his high-end folders and art knives. But he has a fertile mind, and the idea for the Neckolas came while he was toying with an index-finger-ring folder design. He says, "Rather than discarding the 'Hole Idea,' I thought of the fixed blade format, which led me to design a locking sheath which could be manipulated with one hand."
The result is the Renner Neckolas™ knife/sheath system. The blue/black 2390 has a Razor-Sharp 2.0" drop point blade with a sharp tip, and makes a lightweight survival and utility knife for all kinds of tasks.
It features a full-tang premium 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade, sandwiched between resin impregnated fiber scales and held securely by stainless steel pins and the finger-ring insert. As a result of this skeletonized high-tech construction, the knife weighs only 1.2 ounces.
The Neckolas sheath is really the secret to the system. Terry says, "I wanted a retention system that would release and capture the knife with the same motion. It occurred to me that composite materials would allow the sheath to act as its own retaining spring. The key to easy re-insertion is the thumb notch on the sheath top edge. Just insert the blade into the sheath and 'pinch.' The knife clicks into place. To release the knife and draw it, just 'pinch' the springbar extension with your thumb, which allows the blade tang notch to clear the sheath's retaining pin momentarily."
Terry also designed a reversible removable stainless steel clip system which allows left or right hand carry. He says, "This knife can be more handy than a folder, clipped to a T-shirt, pants or shirt pocket, or boot. Any place you can clip something, you can store the Neckolas for quick access." Together, the sheath and clip weigh only 1.0 ounce. The included black nylon lanyard allows wear as a neck knife, as the Neckolas name suggests.
For the Neckolas scales and sheath, we have chosen resin impregnated fiber; because of its rigidity and excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
As the owner of over 20 different kinds of knives this is the most convenient knife I have ever owned. I am very pleased with the quality and the convenience of carrying it around the neck. I consider this to be excellent quality and recommend it for anyone who uses a pocket knife on a daily basis.

This knife is a great small knife. I got it to use when I can't carry a regular pocket knife. Blade is quality. My only reccomendation would be to have some type of grip for where your thumb rests on the top of the knife. My thumb tends to slide forward.

This is a small well made knife. It is very easy to caryy this knife due to the multitude of carry options. I really like the locking sheath. It hold the blade very secure no matter what you may be doing.

Great knife. Fits perfect in my hand and there the release design is genius. no way it will slip out on its own and the belt clip is fantastic too. Great product and I may even get the orange one with the blunt tip to keep with my first aid kit.

The blade is sharp enough for the every day tasks, and gladly not so sharp that it would chip. The knife handle shape fits perfectly in your hand whether part of your index finger is through the hole, or all of it

I bought this knife to keep in my car for emergencies, and am very pleased. The Micarta makes for a neat texture and feel, and the knife handle fits comfortably in my hand. I don't see it mentioned in the description, but the pocket clip on the knife can be moved to the opposite side of the sheath easily, depending on which hand you prefer to draw with.
