(M4-02S) M4-02S - Designed by Kit Carson
M4-02S description
Custom knifemaker and Knifemakers' Guild member Kit Carson is widely known for his M16® design, which we offer in many CRKT production models. But since 1990, Kit's most consistent selling custom model has been his classic M4. In his usual unassuming manner, Kit says, "I guess you'd say it's my flagship custom. It's simple, with form following function. No tricks that look slick but aren't worth a flip in your hand. I've made many variations on it, from exotic collectibles to working tacticals, in maybe 20 versions. But I still get more and more calls to make the M4."

This year we're offering the M4 design in Kit's smaller every day carry (E.D.C.) size.

The M4-02S Stag is a deluxe model which has a traditional look with stag scales and brushed stainless steel bolsters.

While we were engineering it, we decided to add some more value by offering our OutBurst® assisted opening, and our patented* LAWKS safety. It creates a virtual fixed blade when actuated after the blade is opened and locked.

The OutBurst mechanism instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. M4 models have dual thumb studs for ambidextrous one-hand opening and bronze bearings and lubrous washers at the adjustable blade pivot for smooth, fast action.

The 3.25" blade is a high-hollow-grind drop point of premium 8Cr13MoV stainless steel in a bead-blast finish with a Razor-Sharp edge.

Our heavy-duty InterFrame build is true to Kit's design, with dual stainless steel liners, one locking, and a stainless steel back spacer.

The M4-02S Stag is a deluxe model which has a traditional look with stag scales and brushed stainless steel bolsters, plus our LAWKS safety.

All M4 models have high-mounted pocket/gear clips.

So here you have a friendly E.D.C. knife that fits the hand naturally for all kinds of cutting and carving tasks. Like Kit, it's a bit unassuming, but it's a knife you'll come back to year after year.

This knife came to me and did exactly what it was purported to do. Fast sharp and sized to carry . I have forty five knives. I have carried a knife almost everyday for fifty years. I keep coming back to M4-02S since I received it, and it looks like its going to stay as a daily carry. I do wish the LAWKS would engage when opened like the M16's do instead of having to flip it up manually . I still give it 5 stars.

Very good quality knife, especially considering the price. I like the Outburst assist, very easy for me to open and close one-handed. Can also use in either hand due to the dual thumb studs (IMHO - everyone should practice using knives, guns, etc. in both hands.) The knife was a little stiff at first, but that's okay as it wont become too loose after its "broken in". I don't understand the complaints about the LAWKS safety, it doesn't seem to interfere with anything and you don't have to use it if you don't want to I also dont get the complaints that its made overseas, as its highly unlikely youll find a 100% Made in the USA folding knife anywhere near this quality at anywhere near this price. No, I don't work for CRKT, I just like the knife.

This is by far the best knife on the market today in my opinion Quality craftmanship for the price. I found this particular knife at the Kennesaw Cutlery website for $49.99. I did some research prior to buying from just one company as money is rather tight these days... for an EDC knife, it is fantastic Well built and ready to take on any task you give it

I am an avid collector of mid to high tier production, as well as custom knives and this is my favorite knife out of my 100 folders......more than my $100 and more than $300 folders.......I have 2x in the stag and 1x in the bone variety.......well done boys.......

Awesome knife. I've only had one for a few days, but it's already one of my all time favorites.

I like the knife over all But it has two problems. The first is the clip needs to be at the other end where the blade is down and the biggest is the linerlock is hard to use it needs to be up out of the handle or have a thumb indention. Troy

great knife to carry for all purposes. If haven't used CRKT OutBurst system, may be difficult to open blade at first, but after using for a short time, opening and closing becomes as easy as writing your name.
