In the process of developing our line of Carson special forces G10 M21™ models, it became apparent that there was a demand for these models from coalition forces serving in desert environments. These models have Desert Tan blade and scales.
The M21-14DSFG Big Dog G10 is our hefty utility version, with a 3.875" (98 mm) deep-bellied blade and full-size handle with butt pommel. It weighs 5.5 oz. (156 g).
Just like its black tactical counterpart, this knife shares a unique design offering a combination of Carson SF series features requested by military procurement specialists. It has a combined Razor-Sharp and patented (1) Veff™ Serrated edge. The open build allows two Carson Flippers to be incorporated, resulting in a true hilt up to now rare in folding knives.
Blade and scales are non-reflective Desert Tan. The premium 8Cr14MoV stainless steel blade receives a titanium nitride coating for maximum corrosion resistance. Kit's trademark dual checkered thumb studs are standard. One-hand opening and closing is quick and smooth.
The open InterFrame build uses Desert Tan scales of G10, and stainless steel liners with friction grooves. G10 is often preferred for its aggressive gripping texture, light weight, and the insulating properties which make it cooler in heat and warmer in cold than metal.
It also features our exclusive patented (2) AutoLAWKS™, the Lake and Walker Knife Safety innovation taken to the next level. AutoLAWKS™ automatically sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use. To close the knife, pull the AutoLAWKS™ red button lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position..
All knives in this series are equipped with clip options that allow four-position carry on belts or webbing tip up, tip down, left or right. (Caution: These knives are not designed for tip-up in-pocket carry.)
They are special knives, designed by the military for special forces desert use. 1. U.S. Patent No. D559,939
2. U.S. Patent Nos. 5,596,808 and 7,437,822
Make no doubt, this is a large folder. However, the weight is reasonable and it's thin. It is not an "assisted" opening type, but if you flick your wrist while using the flicker the blade deploys reliably. The blade is very sharp, the quality of fit and finish is very good, and the dual flickers make for a real hilt. My only real complaint is the AutoLAWKS feature. It's unnecessary for most uses and I wish it was a manual lock rather than automatic. It's the only reason I gave it four stars.

Wow This knife is awesome. Heavy duty all around. Snaps open smoothly and locks open with a snap sound. I like the G10 handles, smooth yet grippy. The VEFF serations are wickedly sharp. Spear point blade with upper and lower knurled ear flippers are also heavy duty. Feels great in my big hand. This is a serious knife. Im very happy to own it, so will you.
