It began like a Christmas wish list. What if we could build Kit Carson's M21™ series just the way a custom knife maker would: with a G10 and stainless steel InterFrame build and a titanium nitride-coated premium stainless steel blade? What if we could bring it in at a very competitive value price?
Just like a kid on Christmas morning, we got everything we wanted.
New Left-Hand Model. This year, we are responding to demand with a left-hand model, the M21-02GL, the smaller size with Razor-Sharp edge. The M21-02GL has the swedged and recurved spear point blade which is made of premium 8Cr14MoV stainless steel with a nonreflective black titanium nitride finish which gives maximum corrosion resistance.
There are many reasons custom knife makers choose an InterFrame build with stainless steel liners and G10 scales in preference to aluminum or even titanium scales. First, the aggressive G10 texture gives unparalleled grip. Second, it is very strong. Third, it is lightweight. And finally, G10 is an insulator with a low specific heat. Therefore, it is cooler to grip in the beating desert sun, and warmer to grip at subfreezing temperatures.
The M21-02GL model also features the very popular "Carson Flipper" blade extension, which aids opening and acts as an additional blade guard.
Unlike the typical custom knife maker, we are able to engineer our patented AutoLAWKS™ automatic knife safety into all M21 models, which converts them into virtual fixed blades when their blades are open and locked.
As is standard practice on CRKT folders, lubrous washers at the blade pivot assure velvety-smooth one-hand opening and closing, using Kit Carson's trademark dual checkered thumb studs which also act as a blade stop.
Every model features a removable stainless steel clothing/gear
clip. All fasteners, including the clip screws, are Torx®. Liners, hardware and
clip are black oxide coated.
So there you have the M21-02GL. Everything you could ask for in a custom-quality
work knife at a great price. Does that make us feel jolly? Ho, ho, ho!
LEFTIES This is NOT the usual second thought cheaply pieced together modified righty tool. You know how we "get by"? Not with this. It's amazing to use a tool you don't have to struggle against. I didn't Guess what You aren't clumsy or awkward your tools are backwards. Seems obvious and simple until you get used to a quality tool engineered to work WITH Your body. Right handers take ergonomics for granted- why not it is granted to them. It took me a short time to learn to use it the right way since I was used to the regular M-16 lock. Do yourself a favor better yet show your lefty loved one he's not the odd man out and spend the extra dollar I'm a Medic. I have mechanical experience. I appreciate a good tool. As a lefty you have never experienced ergonomics. I didn't get it before this

I have been very happy with this knife. It is handy, sharp, easy to use, and attractive. The only thing I would improve is the frame lock is just a little to low for my thumb to easily move it when I close the blade one handed. I haven't had the knife long enough that I have used it very much yet, however, it is well on its way to becoming my favorite carry knife.

This is the first left handed Knife I have owned in my 30 years of experience and to be honest I was skeptical of the need for it. I have gotten by with right handed or ambidextrous knives for years. I am happy to say my skepticism was completely misplaced. This knife feel completely natural to me in use and more importantly in closing the blade after use. The autoLAWKS system now works well for me as it was a bit awkward before. The blade itself is very utilitarian and just works. The pocket clip is good for strong side tip up or down carry or weak side carry in either configuration as well. All and all a good purchase that I plan to use for years to come. I look forward to other offerings for lefties
