It began like a Christmas wish list. What if we could build Kit Carson's M21™ series just the way a custom knifemaker would: with a G10 and stainless steel InterFrame build and a titanium nitride-coated premium stainless steel blade? What if we could bring it in at a very competitive value price?
Just like a kid on Christmas morning, we got everything we wanted.
New Left-Hand Model. This year, we are responding to demand with a lefthand model, the M21-02GL, the smaller size with Razor-Sharp edge. The M21-02GL has the swedged and recurved spear point blade which is made of premium 8Cr14MoV stainless steel with a nonreflective black titanium nitride finish which gives maximum corrosion resistance.
There are many reasons custom knifemakers choose an InterFrame build with stainless steel liners and G10 scales in preference to aluminum or even titanium scales. First, the aggressive G10 texture gives unparalleled grip. Second, it is very strong. Third, it is lightweight. And finally, G10 is an insulator with a low specific heat. Therefore, it is cooler to grip in the beating desert sun, and warmer to grip at subfreezing temperatures.
The M21-02GL model also features the very popular "Carson Flipper" blade extension, which aids opening and acts as an additional blade guard.
Unlike the typical custom knifemaker, we are able to engineer our patented AutoLAWKS™ automatic knife safety into all M21 models, which converts them into virtual fixed blades when their blades are open and locked.
As is standard practice on CRKT folders, lubrous washers at the blade pivot assure velvety-smooth one-hand opening and closing, using Kit Carson's trademark dual checkered thumb studs which also act as a blade stop.
Every model features a removable stainless steel clothing/gear
clip. All fasteners, including the clip screws, are Torx®. Liners, hardware and
clip are black oxide coated.
So there you have the M21-02GL. Everything you could ask for in a custom-quality
work knife at a great price. Does that make us feel jolly? Ho, ho, ho!

This is the first left handed Knife I have owned in my 30 years of experience and to be honest I was skeptical of the need for it. I have gotten by with right handed or ambidextrous knives for years. I am happy to say my skepticism was completely misplaced. This knife feel completely natural to me in use and more importantly in closing the blade after use. The autoLAWKS system now works well for me as it was a bit awkward before. The blade itself is very utilitarian and just works. The pocket clip is good for strong side tip up or down carry or weak side carry in either configuration as well. All and all a good purchase that I plan to use for years to come. I look forward to other offerings for lefties

I am a lefty. There are precious few knives specifically designed just for us. I am always excited to find one. I ordered this one as soon as it came out. I already have 12 of Kit Carson's other models in the M16 and M21 lines. I have been using them for so long as they were, that I have become totally comfortable with the right handed model in my left hand. In fact, I handle it much better in my left than in my right. Since the flipper is ambidextrous and the AutoLAWKS system is accessible equally from either hand, I have never wished for any modifications. Out of curiosity, I ordered the Southpaws version. I must say, after being so used to the original setup, I think I actually prefer them. Everything feels oddly wrong on the other side. However, if you are a lefty, this might work 4 U.

I recieved my knife 3 days after I ordered it. Knife was sharp when I got it. Solid lock up with no wobble. Lock is extremely solid, and auto locks worked w/o any problems Flipper opens knife with minimal effort. Liner is solid and fits all of the way under the blade when open, and is on the correct side for a left handed person. No flaws in the fit and finish and the blade is centered in the handle when closed and there are no mismatches or overhang in the liners or handle scales. Knife is solidlu built with steel liners all of the way around, but does not weigh a ton.
