Several years ago a buddy of mine gave me a M16 13Z and not ever seeing one before I thought it was the coolest thing After a couple of years of carrying it I realized it was a one of a kind knife. I've had Zero Tolerance and Benchmade and a few other high end knives that cost 4 times as much and I'll tell you now the M16 can do everything those other knives can do. No it may not stay sharp as long as the big boys with S30V steel or Elmax steel but when it's time to resharpen the M16 it can be sharpened to a razor sharp perfection in just a few minutes. But if you were using S30V or Elmax it would take you awhile to get it razor sharp if you could do it at all Why pay 4 times as much for a knife thats going to get dull just a few cuts later and take forever to resharpen?
This knife is exceptional. The carbon steel allows for an absolutely villainous edge (sharper than the law should allow) with one go-round using paper wheels, and it comes back to its former glory quickly every time with only a quick steeling. I lost this knife outside one winter, and I found it the following summer. It had a moderate amount of rust, tons of dirt, but it cleaned up nicely. CRKT sent me some missing torx fasteners for the handle, and it's as good as new now, except for some slight blemishes. The LAWKS system takes some getting used to but it's easy once you get the hang of it. I wear it in a belt pouch made for folding knives and I truly do carry it every day. I HIGHLY recommend this razor sharp, durable, comfortable, quick deploying folding knife.
I've carried this knife for 8 years and use it all the time. I am a professional chef and need a good pocket knife for opening crates, cutting straps all kinds of cutting tasks (not food cutting) easy one handed use makes this knife a life saver. I've given away at least 10 of these knives to friends and coworkers as gifts.
Thanks CRKT for making one of the best carry knives available.
I love this knife so much its the only memorable knife I ever fell in love with. I had this knife in the desert color with the half serrated blade, I lost it after the clip came loose and fell through a hole in my camies in Iraq I had that knife for roughly a year but never replaced it until now cause I had a automatic Gerber knife the command gave to me for free and it was also a good knife judt didnt really like the blade style almost looked like a heavy curve drop point and I hate that. But with this knife theres nothing I would change I absolutely love the auto lawks feature its what sold me on the knife. I love the fact that the thumb studs act as a reinforcer to the blade by sitting on the handle and the quality steel its made of. This knife is preatty much functional art at its best

I had one of these purchased at retail in Boston years ago, and it was my favorite daily carry for years. I lost it to the TSA (forgot it was in my photography vest) and I watched in dismay as they dropped it in the trash before I got on the plane. My friend had always admired the blade, and on his last birthday I got one for him from Amazon. Recently, the water main under his dining room exploded, and caused a massive flood. We had to get the old carpet up fast, because it was waterlogged and the mildew would only be hours to follow. Enter his new knife. That thing carved through the old, very well made deep pile carpeting as if it were not even there. Can you say lightsaber? Thanks for building such a reliable product My new M21-12 arrives this week :) -GDS

Just got this knife about three weeks ago, but have had a chance to use it quite a bit and already know that it's going to be one of my favorites. Even though I was a bit suspicious of the steel initially, the edge is holding up surprisingly well, and the fit of the knife is first rate. Overall, a very impressive product at an extremely fair price. I'd buy it again in a heart-beat....as a matter of fact, I'm going to buy a second one as a back up and perhaps another for my Dad.....he needs a good knife like this. Thanks CRKT
My wife bought me the M16-13z for Christmas (2011)from the local military surplus store, she asked the owner/clerk about every day carry knives and was told that this was the knife I would need to have, let me tell you she (that's right "she") was absoulutely right I do not leave the house without it in my pocket. I really like the security of the autolawks system.
I am very impressed with the customer service from crkt, top notch all the way, having someone who stands behind their product 100% is very gratifying. I use this knife everyday for various tasks and for personnel security. I will be a life long customer
I used to own the M16-13Z. Overall, a great knife. However, I wasn't entirely happy with it. The flipper was great, the handle was great, but the blade was a bit soft in my opinion. I had to constantly sharpen it almost after every use (even on small things like cardboard). The autolawks did jam on mine after a week which was a bit disappointing, but that could have just been mine. If you're looking for a reasonable sized EDC with good, deeper triple point serrations, this may be the right knife for you.
I've carried my m16-03z almost every day for 9 years now. Initially I liked it so much I was afraid to carry it and lose it but I quickly learned having a good knife and keeping it on you at all times it a lot better than going through random cheep knives every month or 2, and knock on wood, I haven't lost her yet. Besides normal cleaning and occasional sharpening I have never had any issues with my knife it truly is a "Clydesdale" of every day carry knives. Today for the first time in 9 years of daily construction worker/mechanic use I noticed it would close when locked open without pushing the release (mine was made before AutoLAWKS). I will gladly replace the worn parts and keep her for another 9 years. Thank you CRKT.
I bought a M16-13Z 7 years ago. At the time I was unfamiliar with CRKT, but of all the knifes I looked at that day I kept going back to the M16. It had all the features I wanted and although I wasn't familier with CRKT at the time, the quality of the design as well as the integrity of the materials used made it stand out among the rest. I carried that knife for 4 years hiking, rafting, kayaking, hunting, fishing, climbing, and of course working before it was confiscated at an airport security line when I failed to check it in my bag. During the 4 day wait for my replacement to come in the mail I realized how dependent I had become on that knife, so much that I even considered buying a backup incase I ever encountered a similar situation. After 7 years I cant imagine carrying anything less.
