For years, Kit Carson's M16® designs have been our most popular series. And our Z version has built the largest user base of all. These knives are built for function, not fad. And they are exceptional values.
The M16®-02Z and M16®-12Z are tough little bulldogs, with 3.00" dual grind Tanto-style blades.
They use our very successful InterFrame construction, tough, textured glass filled nylon scales over a 420J2 stainless steel liner InterFrame. We overbuild it for rigidity, using solid glass filled nylon back spacers. And we assemble the handle with superior offset Torx® fasteners. The handle is exceptionally rigid and fills the hand perfectly.
We use our tough AUS 4 high-carbon stainless steel for the blades to give greater everyday utility, and offer both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edges.
All models feature the Carson Flipper, which is not only an aid to opening the blade, especially when wearing gloves, but acts as a blade guard when the blade is open.
We've also incorporated our patented* AutoLAWKS™ automatic knife safety into all models, which converts the M16 Z series into virtual fixed blades when their blades are open and locked.
All styles have lubrous washers and a removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip.
Think of the M16-Z as a Clydesdaleready to rush a knight into battle or pull a beer wagon. Every day. Day after day.
I ordered the M16-02Z as the proud former owner/abuser of it's (in '06) smaller brother, the M16-01Z EDC. I did EVERYTHING with that knife. In fact, I took it to BELIZE on a missionary assignment and used it to open cement, slice fruit, whittle tree limbs into stakes, cut rope, peel sugarcane, YOU NAME IT I could NOT find something that knife would NOT do
Dad bought the M21 G10 because he was so impressed with my M16-01
Replacement clip and screws in '12 were FREE
I lost that knife in Dec '13 and bought this one to replace it. It seems 25% bigger and $30 more expensive than I remember, but you have a LOYAL customer
My only issue is M16 EDC's don't come with Veff Serrations Boo...
Buy an M16, use it for everything, find it nigh-impossible to kill, love it for LIFE

Great knife, however the pocket clip should be on the back end, how do I re-position since the screws are so small? - CRKT - The screws are a #5 or #6 torx. you can purchase a Torx tool at most home improvement stores.

I made an account just to leave a comment about this knife, I've had this knife for about 7 years now, the same one. I've sharpened it maybe 7 times, it holds an edge better then any knife ive ever owned which is no small amount. I have done everything with this knife, drawn blood, opened bottles, rope, screws, cans, i have much more i can list. This thing is always on my side, infact its there now and no matter how much i punish this thing it just keeps going. The mechanics are flawless, easy to take apart and clean. The autoLawks feature is solid, it will keep the blade straight through some serious force. I cant recommend this knife more then i have already. You will love this knife, i use mine literally everyday and it has saved my life.

I bought this knife a couple of weeks from now and I was very satisfied with the overall quality and sharpness of the blade. Yesterday while using the blade the security mechanism got stuck and the blade no longer closes. I would advise future buyers of this fault. ***CRKT RESPONSE We'll reach out to you via Customer Service and get this taken care of. This looks and sounds like a possible defect. Each knife is QA'd prior to leaving Tualatin so we will look into this one. Thank you, CRKT
