We have produced Kit Carson's popular M16® line in many variations over the past decade. Our glass filled nylon version has built the largest user base of all. These knives are built for function, not fad, and they are exceptional values.
Our new M16 ZLEK line uses our very successful InterFrame construction, with tough, textured glass filled nylon scales over a 420J2 stainless steel liner InterFrame and solid glass filled nylon back spacers. We assemble the handle with superior offset Torx® fasteners.
For professional use, we've added a seat belt cutter to the Carson Flipper, and a tungsten carbide window breaker at the butt. Automobile side windows shatter with one quick whack from the butt of the knife.
All components receive a tough tactical black coating. The Flipper can be pressed for fast one-hand opening, and creates a blade guard when open. We use our premium AUS 8 high-carbon stainless steel for the blades, which have Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edges to easily cut rope, cord, canvas, and vegetation.
All three models are fitted with our exclusive patented* AutoLAWKS™, the Lake and Walker Knife Safety innovation taken to the next level. AutoLAWKS™ automatically sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use. To close the knife, pull the AutoLAWKS™ red button lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position.
M16®-14ZLEK. The "Big Dog" M16 is a hefty 6.2-ounce knife with a 3.75"- long Tanto blade that is able to tackle any emergency task. This larger model features a four-position clip, allowing carry on belts or webbing tip up, tip down, left or right. Please note: These knives are not designed for tip-up in pocket carry.
Full professional features. Non-reflective black finish. Exceptional affordability. Kit Carson rides again.
This knife is simply amazing. It locks up tight and opens smooth, and has for years... even after being dropped countless times, once into a pile of sand. Although large I find it comfortable enough to wear every day. The 4 position clip is also a real bonus as I am left handed. The only "flaw" that I have been able to find in this knife is that over time the red "autolawks" indicator can fall out. And this is not technically even a problem, as I was able to request a new autolawks through CRKT's website for FREE... AWESOME The blade disassembled easily and intuitively for cleaning and repair. I will probably never need another knife Actually, who I am trying to kid, I will always need more knives. But at least I know I won't need to replace this one anytime soon. :)

I am in general happy with the quality of the knife. I put it through quite the beating when I get a new blade to test for reliability ext. It a great knife but the thumb stud came lose after 2 days. So I red locktited it,problem solved. Then the button for safety was lost(no biggie). In general happy with the tough well balanced knife. Next one I buy I'd probably spend a little more to see what they're top dollar items might be.

Awesome, solid knife tool. The M16-14 has been my EDC for years and this variation is a cool addition. The seatbelt cutter's a little large, but you never know when you'll need it and it actually assists the opening a little quicker than the usual thumb stud, etc. It hasn't cut into my pocket or anything, so no complaints here. I'll be first in line if they come out with an OD Green metal frame version of this.

Must have tool for all law enforcement officers working the streets. Works better than advertised and is one of those things when you need it, you need it really bad. Permanent part of my equipment.

Great knife out of the box, I tested the seat belt cutter and it worked flawlessly. Very sturdy and well built knife. It will not be my last.

I climb radio towers for a living so its almost required to have atleast one knife and one strap cutter on your person at all times in case of a rescue. This guy gets the job done, and done well. When I first took it out of the box it was super sharp(expected)what i didnt expect was how sharp it still is after using it for the past month to cut brush out of a tower compound and cut quite a few web lanyards as well as all the the normal all in a days work kind of stuff. The black metal and small sliver of silver clashed beautifully.Morale of that part of the story is this is a gorgeous knife. At first I was skeptical of how large the "button"on the back to open the knife was.It was surprisingly easy to thumb open. All in all this an absolutely beautiful and useful knife.I would buy it again.

Excellent knife. The safety features make it especially useful providing an extra sense of security knowing you can cut a seat belt or break a car window.
