This knife offers a combination of Carson M16 Series features requested by military procurement specialists.
The dual grind Tanto blades were specified because they offer maximum strength. The open build allows two Carson Flippers to be incorporated, resulting in a true hilt very rare in folding knives.
Blade, frame and hardware are nonreflective tactical black. Blades receive a coating for maximum corrosion resistance. Kit's trademark dual checkered thumb studs are standard as is one-hand opening and closing which is quick and smooth.
All SF models feature our automated liner safety. This safety innovation automatically sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use. To close the knife, pull the red button lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position.
M16®-13SFGL model features a 3.50" (89mm) dual grind Tanto blade and is ideal when weight and bulk must be kept to a minimum.
As a lefty, I have purchased all of the Kit Carson GL models. It's hard to say which I like better, the design or the precision and quality of the construction... both are superb Both of the two M16's and the M21 model are all fantastic. Over the years I've accumulated a fair assortment of folders across a broad range of cost. These Kit Carson CRKT knives have been the only models to consistently blow away my expectations. And the M16-13SFGL is my favorite among favorites. Size and weight are well suited to moving through challenging alpine areas without compromising the sturdy build and feel. In the hand the knife achieves fast and reliable one handed deployment with great traction and comfort. The M16-13SFGL is my best of the best in terms of tactical folders.
