Here is Kit Carson's M16® Every Day Carry (EDC) with our Zytel® InterFrame build. Our knife users told us, "We want an affordable work knife that we can give hard use without feeling guilty, and one that won't break us up if we leave it on a job site or drop it in the river." We heard you. So we set about to make the Zytel EDC the best value in the work and sport knife world. That starts with textured Zytel® scales and a dual 2CR13 stainless steel liner InterFrame. Assembled with Zytel back spacers and Torx® fasteners, the result is amazingly rigid. Zytel is a fiberglass-filled nylon that offers excellent toughness and resistance to solvents. Teflon® bearings at the blade pivot and an adjustable pivot screw allow for perfect blade action. The blade is 8CR15MoV high-carbon stainless steel which gives an ideal combination of toughness and edge-holding ability in a work knife, and also allows easy field-sharpening. Standard models have a bead-blast finish. The M16®-01Z uses our popular spear point slim profile blade with a Razor-Sharp edge. It is ideal for fine cutting and carving tasks. Of course, it features the Carson Flipper, which speeds opening of the blade and acts as a blade guard when the blade is open. The real breakthrough was our ability to engineer our patented* AutoLAWKS™ knife safety into all models, which automatically actuates when the blades are open, making these folders into virtual fixed blades when locked. Add to these features the standard removable Teflon®-plated stainless steel clothing/gear clip plus the CRKT limited lifetime warranty, and you have one of the truly great knife values of our time. *U.S. Patent Nos. 5,596,808 and 7,437,822

3.5 on a scale of one to five. It's a good knife, my only complaint is that it has a plastic adjusting screw that changes the tightness of the blade. If you tighten the screw thus keeping the blade from being wobblie when extended it makes it exceedingly difficult to "flick" open. Also if it's loose which it can become from "everyday use" it gets not only wobblie but a bit loose and came open while attached to your belt.
Meah. Still a good blade. CRKT - The pivot screw is NOT plastic. All the fasteners are stainless steel. Also, we make the pivot screw with knurls so it is easy to adjust with your thumb depending on how you like your knives to open.

Owning the larger M21-02G and one of the first M16's with full aluminium frame (no flipper, no Lawks) I was looking for a smaller M16 for everyday use. When it arrived I was very disappointed.
The Zytel framed range of M16's is obviously an attempt to create a cheaper knive. And they look it
CRKT Comment: Zytel is a tough material that is used in a lot of knife handles. It does help keep the price down. Some people like it...some don't. It is a personal preference.

I was initially concerned with how slim the handle appears on this knife because I have extremely large hands. However, this has turned out to by the most comfortable knife I own, and I own a lot of knives. The additional locking mechanism is a comfort, and with a little practice I can easily open and close the blade with one hand in under a second. The blade holds an edge well, but is not so hard that sharpening becomes intense labor. Great knife for a great price.

Bought this knife, and was very pleased with the size, weight, and the sharpness right out of the box. This knife was as sharp as a razor blade right out of the box, and I am very pleased with the knife.
Great purchase for anyone who needs a quality EDC blade.
