M16-01Z description
Here is Kit Carson's M16® Every Day Carry (EDC) with our glass filled nylon InterFrame build.

Our knife users told us, "We want an affordable work knife that we can give hard use without feeling guilty, and one that won't break us up if we leave it on a job site or drop it in the river." We heard you. So we set about to make the Z EDC the best value in the work and sport knife world.

That starts with textured glass filled nylon scales and a dual 2CR13 stainless steel liner InterFrame. Assembled with glass filled nylon back spacers and Torx® fasteners, the result is amazingly rigid.

Glass filled nylon offers excellent toughness and resistance to solvents. Lubrous washers at the blade pivot and an adjustable pivot screw allow for perfect blade action. The blade is 8CR15MoV high-carbon stainless steel which gives an ideal combination of toughness and edge-holding ability in a work knife, and also allows easy field-sharpening. Standard models have a bead-blast finish.

The M16®-01Z uses our popular spear point slim profile blade with a Razor-Sharp edge. It is ideal for fine cutting and carving tasks. Of course, it features the Carson Flipper, which speeds opening of the blade and acts as a blade guard when the blade is open.

The real breakthrough was our ability to engineer our patented* AutoLAWKS knife safety into all models, which automatically actuates when the blades are open, making these folders into virtual fixed blades when locked. Add to these features the standard removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip plus the CRKT limited lifetime warranty, and you have one of the truly great knife values of our time.

*U.S. Patent Nos. 5,596,808 and 7,437,822

This is my first CRKT knife and I absolutely love it. The design is excellent, and it fits very nice in my hand. The all metal design gives the knife a nice weight and is very durable. The blade lock is the best i have used, no more accidentally closing the knife on my hand while I am using it. I carry this knife everyday and I forever will. I will definitely be buying CRKT knives until I die.

I've owned a number of CRKT knives over the years. Always good quality steel and stay sharp. However, I don't care for the lawks locking system. It essentially takes two hands to close the knife. I don't like putting my finger in the way of the very sharp blade to close. I like the knife, but I own a number of good quality knives which don't require the extra effort to close.

I've had this knife about a month carry it every day. The edge is staying sharp the action is tight yet easy to open. I'm very happy with the quality and plan to buy some for gifts this holiday John

I bought this M16 01Z years ago after reading about it in someone's 'what's new' column, and it gets carried more than any others I own. I also have a couple other different M16 models, one of which pretty much fell apart before I realized it's good to get the tool and keep it snugged up. No fault other than mine. Right size, right shape, right in my pocket.

I have several M16-10KZs and love them. The folks with problems with opening them and the clips loosening need to take a little more time and pay attention. When I lost screws for the clip, CRKT sent me replacement screws immediately for no cost. Tightening the screws with the proper screwdriver took care of the problem. I adjusted the opening also with a screwdriver loosening the screw holding the blade in the handle. The double lock is particularly handy.

The knife is what i ordered and of excellent quality . On my part i thought it would be longer but that was human error . I would buy the larger one in the future , it is a good knife.

At first, I wasn't happy with the size. I thought it was going to be bigger than what it is but after a few days it turned into the best pocket knife I ever carried. I bought 2 of them, one for me and one for my son-in-law. He had the same impression as I did. But we are both engineers, not Jim Bowie or Rambo so this knife works extremely well for both of us. BTW, the quality of this knife is extremely good an it shows.

I have a first production one that I've beat the tar out of. I love this knife and am thinking of getting another. I've opened it so many times I've cut my finger on the flipper. I have the same problem with the tension screw but I just live with it.
