The opening is a little awkward at first but the knife is great. Once you get used to the assited opening it is an outstanding knife. There are others that are easier to use but durability is an issue with them. I have broken a few knives because of the failure of the bolster or lock.

Another fun knife from CRKT. When I ordered this knife I was concerned that it would look too much like a knife one might pick up while stopping at a truck stop rather than a quality knife from a well known manufacturer. But, I was pleasently supprised when it arrived. The stainless scale insert has a satin finish rather than being shiny, and the knife feels very solid. Mine fires strongly and locks up perfectly. Like all my CRKT knives with Fire Safe, it's a right hand opening only knife. Not a down-check for me, but all you south-paws out there might not be as thrilled with it. My only complaint is that the Fire Safe button RATTLES Come on CRKT, there has to be something you can do to keep the thumb stud in these Fire Safe knives from rattling so much Besides that I love it

Oh my, what a great knife. Opening the Firesafe/Outburst takes a little getting used to but once you do, it feels great. Very crisp opening with a satisfying lock-click, just the right spring tension. Production quality is high (makes up for the disappointing M16-01Z I returned last month). I guess the design is a love-it-or-hate-it affair but I love it. Modern yet stylish. Well done CRKT.
