Named after the Egyptian lord of the sky, Allen Elishewitz’s edgy CRKT® Horus™ folder is all facets, reminiscent of today’s lord of the sky, the stealth fighter.
Horus is familiar to Egyptologists as the hawk-headed god, lord of the sky. As Canyon Lake, Texas, knifemaker Allen Elishewitz developed this new design for Columbia River Knife & Tool® (CRKT®), similar in many ways to his larger custom Creedmore, we saw an aggressive hawk-like character in its crisp edges, facets and choils, hence the Horus™ name. It reminds us of an F-117 stealth fighter, too.
This is much more than an Elishewitz design statement, even though it is a piece that grabs your attention immediately. It’s a very functional every day carry with the patented features that have made CRKT folders so popular, including OutBurst® assisted opening and the LAWKS® safety.
The Horus frame features an unusual choiled pistol-grip curve. The stainless steel InterFrame build has one locking liner and sculpted black textured glass filled nylon scales. The wild honey gold variegated inlays are the latest CPL composite, like that used in modern bowling balls. Injection molding makes each one unique.
The blade is AUS 8 premium stainless steel in a bead-blast finish. We call it an “Elishewitz stealth grind” because it is composed almost entirely of flat angular facets. The result is a very strong blade with a strong central spine which extends very near to the tip. It is available in both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edge models.
Of course, this design demands our patented OutBurst® assisted opening mechanism, which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30 degrees. The OutBurst mechanism can be removed to allow fast, conventional one-hand opening using the custom Elishewitz ramped thumb stud, depending on your preference or local ordinances.
The Horus features LAWKS®, the Lake and Walker Knife Safety innovation. LAWKS® sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use. To engage the safety, push the LAWKS® lever forward. To close the knife, pull the LAWKS® lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position.
Typical of all CRKT Elishewitz folders, you get a gold Elishewitz logo on the blade and a custom removable stainless steel pocket/gear clip.
The Elishewitz Horus makes a strong statement, and it will certainly spark a conversation among your knife-fancier friends. But then, the lord of the sky has never been shy, either.
Manufacturer’s suggested list price for the Horus is $79.99.
