James Williams is actively involved in teaching Military special operations and government security professionals who must at times perform their daily high risk duties in environments where carry of firearms or larger knives is impermissible. It was at their professional request that these close quarter combat knife designs were developed.
The result of this request is the CRKT Heiho. The distinctive blade shape is classical Samurai which gives outstanding penetrating power as well as slashing performance. A stainless steel Inter- Frame build with a liner lock, polished G10 scales, ambidextrous thumb-disk opener, and stainless steel carry-clip round out the make up of this defensive folder.
The Heiho makes full use of our patented OutBurst® assisted opening mechanism, and if required, can be quickly disabled easily. The Heiho also incorporates our patented* LAWKS™ safety. This locks the blade in the fully open position making this folding knife a virtual fixed blade. The innovative and patented Veff Serrations are a welcome new addition to the Heiho. I am former military and operated within an extremely small tactical squad. In many, not several, instances an edged weapon was the only choice to "deal" with a situation. I have had the Hissatsu folder for approximately 3 mo. and can think of many occasions where this style blade would have been more effective than what I had and I was given more than a couple to chose from. Obviously, the fixed blade would have been the only choice due to the signature of the folder opening, however I still would have carried this as a back-up blade. I would recommend this weapon to anyone who needs to protect themselves or thier family. CRKT has put the RD and the best of the best in personnel in designing this blade. I have owned the HEIHO (straight blade) for several weeks now, what a great knife it is extremely sharp, opens so quickly and as small as it is fits my large hands quite well, I now carry 2 folders, 1 for work and this one just in case of ugliness happening, I also just received it's big brother the HISSATSU, what a man to do?? LOL. Let me end with this, I am devoted to the CRKT brand, I currently own 9 of your blades and just have ordered 2 more, keep up the great work BTW I have ordered a second HISSATSU for my son in the military
