Here at Columbia River Knife & Tool® (CRKT®) we're inspired by great design. Our I.D. Works® products are not tools you will find anywhere else. We're motivated by design that is both inspired and functional, as created 500 years ago by painter, sculptor, architect, and inventor Leonardo da Vinci, who said "observe everything" in nature. We've partnered with the best and brightest designers of today who share this vision of putting functional art in your hand. They are organic and ergonomic shapes, sometimes whimsical, alway useful. These unique tools make up our growing I.D. Works® line. Put them to use, enjoy them, and always remember what inspires you!
Our new Flux™ modular tool system is another creative design by Launce Barber and Tom Stokes as a part of our I.D. Works® tool family. It is a lightweight, high-tech system designed for people with active outdoor lifestyles.
This exciting new system was named the 2009 Most Innovative Imported Design at the Blade Show in Atlanta, Georgia, when it was first displayed in May of 2009.
At the core of the Flux system is the lightweight aluminum carabiner chassis which allows tools to be quickly selected, attached, and clipped on clothing and gear. Two chassis are available; one with dual rails which will hold any two Flux tools, and one with a single rail which provides a carabiner for any single Flux tool. Note: Flux carabiners are non-weight-bearing and must not be used as a climbing aid.
We are marketing the Flux system in value clampacks which include two tool components and a double chassis. The GoWork™ Pack (Flux Knife and Flux Hex Driver) is a useful work tool combination, both indoors and outdoors.
Flux™ Knife. This is a lightweight locking liner folder with stainless steel InterFrame build and a 2.25" (57 mm) Razor-Sharp clip point high-carbon stainless steel blade in a bead-blast finish. The blade can be easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous thumb disk. The knife also has a removable stainless steel pocket clip.
Flux™ Driver. This hex driver functions as a standard screwdriver and as a T-handle driver, depending on where the bit extension adapter is placed. It includes three hex bits (one Phillips, two flat) which each have small ball detents to hold them securely in the driver handle until needed. The Driver's utility is enhanced by a small L.E.D. work light near the tip to light the work space.
Using the Flux system, the lightweight tools are easy to select and carry for any activity. Just "pick and click" the tool you need.
I really like the knife and the design but am disappointed with the multi-tool, particularly the small flashlight. The first time I took the knife out to work with me the rubber cap/on-off button came off. When that happened I lost the battery though, I think, I found the internal parts. Nobody at CRKT could tell me what kind of battery it needs. They did offer to look at it and maybe replace it if I'd send it in. CRKT RESPONSE: The small flashlight takes 2 CR1230 batteries.

This was purchased as a gift. After the recipient and I both checked it out, we agreed it was one of the more novel multi-tool concepts available. Workmanship was top shelf. Functionality was quite good. Wish I had bought one for myself.
